Westhaven Home Entered by Burglar While Family Slept & 10 Overnight Auto Burgs Put Neighbors, Police On Alert
Franklin, TN – Last night, 10 cars were burglarized in the Westhaven subdivision. Most vehicles, and the home targeted had valuables visible through windows. The suspect(s) quietly entered unlocked cars in the neighborhood, and broke out windows of others, stealing a variety of property, including two rifles and a handgun.
More disturbing is the fact that someone forced entry into a home in the 1500 block of Championship Boulevard while the family lay sleeping inside. There, the suspect(s) pried open a locked back door and stole a purse from the kitchen table. The family realized what had happened after waking up at around 6:30 this morning to find the back door ajar.
The fact that guns were stolen in one of the auto burglaries, and that suspects were brazen enough to enter an occupied home has police urging residents to be vigilant. Locking car and house doors, keeping valuables out of view by windows in cars and homes, and setting existing home and auto alarm systems is encouraged.
Investigators are asking anyone in the neighborhood with home surveillance systems to review footage from overnight, and contact police if your cameras caught a glimpse of anything suspicious. Information about this rash of burglaries is worth up to $1,000 with a simple call to Crime Stoppers: (615) 794-4000.
