Steuben County lowered to ADVISORY yellow travel status
The Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sheriff, Steuben County Highway and the Steuben County Emergency Management have reduced the Snow Watch level and replaced it with a Snow ADVISORY Level for Steuben County effective immediately 1/28/2014 and continuing indefinitely. Please drive slower than normal, give yourself plenty of travel time and plenty of stopping distance between other vehicles and at intersections. County highway has reported that county roads are now open however some have large snow banks and will be narrow in places. Pay loader removal of snow in these areas are expected to continue throughout the day Wednesday. Please be alert for highway snow removal equipment when driving.
Wind chill temperatures are expected to reach -25 this evening. Winds will be 10-15 MPH out of the west with wind gusts near 20 MPH during the night hours. Please prepare when going outside.
Conditions will be monitored throughout the night and into tomorrow with a review again at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday January 29th. An update will be released at that time. Regular media outlets plus the Sheriff Facebook page, www.steubensheriff.com and Nixle text alerts will be used to alert everyone of any updates.
County offices including the court house will resume regular business hours Wednesday January 29th.
