Road Conditions in Lake Lure, NC
We’ve had many calls this morning concerning the roads in Lake Lure. Lake Lure Police Chief Sean Humphries is out driving roads now and reports that there is a “slushy mixture” in areas where the sun is melting the snow, but do not be deceived. There are many spots of ice that still exist. This is causing driving to remain dangerous especially coming down a mountain and rounding curves. Chief Humphries suggest if you do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, to not leave home unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and travel out, use extreme caution and travel slowly. There are many spots that look like they may be of no danger of ice, however this is not true. The roads should be better around 2 to 3o’clock, but Chief Humphries still advises to use caution especially in areas the sun has not hit.
Temperatures will drop again this evening to 17 degrees, which will cause roads to form a dangerous layer of ice. We ask again, that unless you absolutely need to be out in these conditions later, that you drive slowly and use extreme caution.
