VICTIM: multiple victims 
 
SUSPECT: Georgina Acosta (AKA Maria Perez), 59-year-old Female Hispanic (Booking photo attached) 
 
UNIT: Century Station Detectives (Detective Zamorano) 
 
NARRATIVE: 
Century Station Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any additional victims of rental property fraud where the 59-year-old-suspect, Georgina Acosta, also known as Maria Perez, posted flyers at local stores to advertise a vacant house that was not for rent. 
 
On Monday, January 13, 2014, Suspect Georgina Acosta met with the victim at a property on Virginia Avenue in the City of Lynwood. The suspect introduced herself as a rental property agent. The victim agreed to rent the property and a rental agreement was completed. The suspect asked for a $500.00 cash deposit, which the victim provided. When the victim asked for the key the suspect told the victim she would provide the key at a later time. 
 
On Thursday, January 16th, 2014, the same suspect met with a second victim, at the same location, and again introduced herself as a rental property agent. The victim agreed to rent the property and a rental agreement was completed. The suspect then asked the victim for a $500.00 cash deposit, which the victim provided. When the victim asked for the key the suspect stated she would provide it at a later time. On this occasion, the victim detained the suspect until deputies arrived. She was arrested and charged with forgery and theft by false pretense. The suspect was also positively identified by the victim from the crime that occurred on January 13th. The suspect was later released on her Own Recognizance. 
 
Sheriff’s detectives are asking any additional victims to come forward.
