Steuben remains under yellow travel advisory into Monday
Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sheriff, Emergency management and the County Highway have extended the yellow Travel Advisory throughout the weekend and into Monday. Conditions will be monitored throughout the weekend with a re-evaluation Monday February 3rd at 10:00AM. An update shortly thereafter can be expected.
Overnight freezing has caused roads in Steuben county to be very slippery this morning. Pockets of slush have also frozen making roads very rough and can cause a vehicle to lose control. Melted snow and rain from yesterday caused standing water in low areas that continue to remain this morning. Please be alert for patches of ice, standing water and frozen slush when traveling today. State roads including I69 have patches of ice in many areas. Please allow plenty of travel time, slow down and take your time.
Updates will be sent out to all media outlets, the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Nixle Alerts and posted on www.steubensheriff.com
Advisory
The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.
