...WINTER STORM WITH 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW EXPECTED TO HIT THE AREA TUESDAY...

A WINTER STORM WILL BRING A BROAD SWATH OF 6 AND 10 INCHES AREA
WIDE STARTING EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. THE SNOW WILL INTENSIFY THROUGH THE DAY ON TUESDAY BEFORE GRADUALLY LIGHTENING UP BY TUESDAY NIGHT. WINDS WILL BE OUT OF THE EAST NORTHEAST BETWEEN 10 AND 20 MPH THROUGH MOST OF THE EVENT WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO
BETWEEN 20 AND 25 MPH. THE HEAVIER SNOW COULD APPROACH 1 INCH PER HOUR RATES AT TIMES DURING THE DAY TIME HOURS ON TUESDAY...AND IN COMBINATION WITH THE WINDS COULD PRODUCE SOME WHITE OUT
CONDITIONS. ROADS WILL QUICKLY BECOME SNOW PACKED AND VISIBILITY WILL BE MINIMAL...MAKING DRIVING CONDITIONS TREACHEROUS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM
6 AM TUESDAY TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATION...WEST CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST MISSOURI.

* TIMING...SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER EASTERN KANSAS AND
WESTERN MISSOURI BEFORE DAYBREAK TUESDAY MORNING AND SPREAD
EASTWARD DURING THE MORNING HOURS. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS
EXPECTED TO FALL ACROSS THE AREA FROM LATE TUESDAY MORNING
INTO TUESDAY EVENING. SNOW SHOULD THEN BEGIN TO TAPER OFF FROM
SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST TUESDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...A BROAD AREA OF SNOW RANGING FROM 6 TO 10
INCHES ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA.

* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE QUICKLY ON ROADS AND SURFACES
BECOMING SNOW PACKED AND CAUSING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
GUSTY WINDS MAY ALSO RESULT IN THE POTENTIAL FOR BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW...MAKING TRAVEL MORE TREACHEROUS.
