Hit and Run Traffic Collision leaves man critically injured

Los Angeles- On Monday, February 03, 2014, at approximately 5:55 p.m., a severe injury hit and run traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Olympic Blvd and Orme Street in Hollenbeck Area. The victim, identified as Edward Nix, 54 years old, of Los Angeles, was struck as he was crossing Olympic Blvd by a vehicle traveling eastbound.

According to witnesses, the hit and run vehicle is described as a late model Honda van, red in color. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Olympic Blvd. There is no description of the driver. Video of the hit and run vehicle just prior to the collision was captured at the scene.

Nix was crossing Olympic Blvd in a marked crosswalk. He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to LAC+USC Medical Center by paramedics from LAFD. He remains in critical condition.
