Yolo County Animal Services is asking the public's help to locate a biting dog in the area near Central Park in Davis.
The Yolo County Sheriff's Office, Animal Services Section, is asking the public's help in attempting to locate a biting dog involved in an incident in the area of Central Park at B Street and Third Street in Davis California.
The incident occurred on Saturday, February 1, 2014 between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. An adult female and male were walking a small dog off leash in the park area when the adult female victim bent down to pet the dog and was bitten. Originally the dog was reported as an unattended stray, however further investigation determined the dog was with two adults. The victim describes a female adult as being in her thirties, dark hair, approximately 5-7 in height and of average build. The second person as a male adult, but no other information was provided.
The biting dog is described as small in size, short haired, brown Chihuahua mix breed. The victim recalls the dog wearing a blue collar with a colored flower type rabies tag attached. The victim states the female person advised her dog was current on its rabies vaccine, but the victim reportedly did not verify this information or attain the owners personal contact information for follow up.
Anyone having knowledge about this bite incident or the location of the owner or owners or dog is encouraged to report it to Animal Services or the Davis Police Department. Identifying the dog to verify current rabies vaccination will help possibly prevent the victim from post exposure rabies treatment.
The Yolo County Sheriff's Office Animal Services Section wants to take this opportunity to remind the public that California Health and Safety Code 121705 states anyone having knowledge of the location or ownership a biting dog and conceals that information is guilty of a misdemeanor.
