Advisory

Downtown Clean-up and General Snow Removal Operations

The accumulated snow will be removed from the Downtown areas beginning late this Sunday night and extending into the early morning hours of Monday morning. Crews will also be attempting to remove as much of the accumulated snow as possible from the Wabash Street parking lot during the same time frame. Car owners are asked to avoid parking Downtown Sunday night starting around 11PM, as well as remove their vehicles from the Wabash parking lot at the end of the evening. This will greatly assist crews as they attempt to clean these areas up.

During the following week, DPW crews will be conducting snow removal operations and hauling large piles away that have accumulated at the following intersections:

Wilcox and County
Platt and Main
The Milan Elevator

The above list could be expanded as the week progresses, as conditions indicate, and as work-load permits. We will provide updates.

We continue to manage our salt supplies in the face of an area wide salt shortage. As noted last week, plowing and general clean-up operations will continue on the side streets throughout the city, however salt needs to be conserved and will be used on the main streets, intersections on the side streets as needed, and on the larger more heavily traveled feeder streets in the subdivisions as needed. Milan is on the list to receive additional salt supplies as they arrive in the Metro-Detroit area, until then we will continue to exercise a balance in regard to managing our salt supplies while maintaining safe travel.
