FPD Youth Program Gives Teens a Look at Life Behind the Badge; Franklin Police Explorers Celebrated by Officers

Franklin, TN – Franklin Police recently recognized two Police Explorers for their outstanding service to the Post, the FPD, and our community. Explorer Sergeant Whitney Stofel and Explorer Sergeant Jami Lawlor contributed more than 700 hours of volunteer service in 2013.

Stofel, a Franklin Police Explorer for three years, recently turned 21 and was required to “age-out” of the program that requires members be less than 21 years of age. The full-time college student is the first Explorer to graduate the program, and become an adult advisor as she continues to work towards her goal of being a police officer.

Lawlor, a Franklin Police Explorer for two years, continues her service as a Squad Leader. She was named Explorer of the Year, and will continue her studies as a dual-enrolled high school and college student, with her sights set on a career in law enforcement.

In 2013, our 15 Franklin Police Explorers contributed more than 1,240 hours of community service and attended an additional 500 hours of police training.
