Fatal Traffic Collision Central Avenue and 59th Place, Newton Area
Los Angeles- On Saturday, February 8, 2014, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the victim, an unidentified male Hispanic was fatally injured as a result of a traffic collision in Newton Area. Victor Rodriguez, 18 years old, was driving his 2006, Nissan, Sentra, 4-door, silver, northbound on South Central Avenue. He was stopped in the left turn lane and waited for traffic to clear. Rodriguez made his left turn, but did not see the oncoming motorcycle as he was making left turn onto 59th Place. The male victim was a lone driver of a 2006, Kawasaki, Ninja, motorcycle, purple/black. The Kawasaki was traveling southbound South Central Avenue.
There were no witnesses to this incident. Drugs or Alcohol were not involved. The driver of the Nissan remained at scene.
The unidentified victim suffered from multiple blunt force trauma and was taken to LAC+USC Medical Center by paramedics from LAFD, where he was pronounced dead at 10:57 p.m. The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
