A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Tuesday evening
through Thursday afternoon...
* locations... the southern mountains and foothills of North
Carolina.
* Hazards... heavy snow and sleet.
* Timing... mainly light snow and sleet should impact the region
Tuesday into Tuesday night. The precipitation will become
heavier Wednesday into Wednesday night... with sleet
increasingly mixing in from the south.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches... along
with around a trace of ice.
* Impacts... the combination of heavy snow and significant sleet
will make travel treacherous. The accumulations may also
create numerous power outages... especially Wednesday through
Wednesday night.
* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.
* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Travel is not advised during storm.
The Lake Lure Police Department will keep you abreast of road conditions as storm passes through our area. Again, travel is not recommended during this storm. Please stay inside and prepare for possible electrical outages. Prepare for possible conditions that will make it unsafe for travelling.
