Sea Girt Residents,

In order to improve public safety and better serve the community, the Borough of Sea Girt has been using an emergency notification system (Swiftreach) which has been very effective in transmitting critical information to the community when the need arises via land line phone numbers, cellphone numbers, text messages and email. The following are some examples of when the notification system is utilized by either the Sea Girt Police Department or Sea Girt Office of Emergency Management:

- weather emergencies

- contaminated water warning or boil water warning

- medical emergencies such as an outbreak of a fast-moving infectious disease

- warfare or acts of terrorism

- administrative message

- child abduction emergency

- law enforcement warning

- service outage notifications

- missing person emergency

- evacuation notices

- School emergencies/early dismissal and closings

- Or, Any other emergency incidents where rapid notification is essential for safety


I would like to remind residents to make sure you have signed up for the Swiftreach notification system. Your information will be stored in a secure website that is only viewed by administrators of the system to include the Sea Girt Chief of Police and the Sea Girt Emergency Management Coordinator. This system enables us to notify different groups throughout town, for example, if there is a need to close school, we can notify just parents, guardians and school staff through our school list. We may also utilize the town wide list to notify all residents throughout Sea Girt that there is perhaps a weather related state of emergency.

Attention Sea Girt Elementary School Parents/Guardians:

This same notification system is also utilized by the Sea Girt Elementary School. When you enrolled your child (children) into the 2013/2014 school year, you were added to the system through the paperwork you filled out in the beginning of the year. If you have not received a swiftreach notification phone message/email regarding early dismissals or school closings this year, please confirm with the Sea Girt Elementary School Staff that you are properly entered into the system (to date, we have put out 4 school related messages to only parents/guardians of the school). Parents that live in Sea Girt and have children attending Sea Girt Elementary School should be signed up for two lists, the town wide list managed by the Police Department and the Sea Girt Elementary School list which is managed by the Sea Girt Elementary School staff.
