Additional snow expected overnight. Lyndhurst Public Schools Closed Friday 2/14/14. Clear fire hydrants please!

Snow, mixed with rain at times is expected throughout the overnight tonight. Accumulating an additional 3-6 inches.

Temps will range between 30-33 degrees, winds NW around 16 mph

Lyndhurst Public Schools Closed Friday 2/14/14 to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Stay off Emergency Streets, plows will be working throughout the night and through the next round of snow. Vehicles parked illegally to be towed especially those parked encroaching into intersections. We are calling on the community to help pitch in to make the recovery process of snow removal as expeditious as possible. Let's keep up the good work!

A STATE OF EMERGENCY has been declared in anticipation of the storm by Governor Christie. Residents are urged to stay off the roadways if reasonably possible to allow the plows and first responders unobstructed access, however there are no mandatory travel restrictions at this time. Observe Emergency No Parking When Roads Snow Covered signs on the below listed streets. DO NOT throw snow in the streets, and if a fire hydrant is abutting your property, clear a path around it. These ordinances will be enforced.

Please keep the following Lyndhurst Township Ordinance regulations in mind:

*Clear fire hydrants near your home / business of snow and ice.
*DO NOT blow or shovel snow into the roadway.
*Observe Snow Emergency Street parking signs.
(No parking allowed on the entire length and both sides of the following streets when snow covered: Chase Avenue, Kingsland Avenue, Orient Way, Page Avenue, Park Avenue, Ridge Road, Riverside Avenue, Rutherford Avenue, Stuyvesant Avenue, Ten Eyck Avenue, and Valley Brook Avenue. Parking on Second Avenue is restricted to both sides between Orient Way and Stuyvesant Avenue. Vehicles are not to be parked on school property. Vehicles that are not removed can be issued summonses and/or towed away by the discretion of the Lyndhurst Police Department.)

Additionally, residents are reminded that in times of power loss not to use their ovens or any auxiliary heating unit which emits carbon monoxide. Such methods of auxiliary heating are also a serious fire hazard.

Help your elderly neighbors / family members with snow and ice removal, and keep a check on them periodically.

During freezing temperatures roadways will become icy, drive safely.

A Helpful tip: If you live on a non emergency roadway, utilize your driveway. This will allow the plows to clear more roadway on your street.
