Steuben issues Yellow Travel Advisory
The Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sheriff, Steuben County Highway and the Steuben County Emergency Management have enacted a Snow ADVISORY Level for Steuben County. The Advisory will expire at 12:00 Noon Tuesday February 18th reverting back to the white travel status. Deputies are reporting that north/south roads have drifting ranging to 5+ inches of snow and some with only one lane of passage. Deputies are also reporting that some county roads may not be passable in a regular passenger car/vehicle. State roads are open however completely snow covered and slippery. Please drive slower than normal, give yourself plenty of travel time and plenty of stopping distance between other vehicles and at intersections. Use headlights during the day to aid in visibility. Large snow banks reduce visibility at intersections and driveways. Please be alert for highway snow removal equipment when driving.
Regular media outlets plus the Sheriff Facebook page, www.steubensheriff.com and Nixle text alerts will be used to alert everyone of any changes, extensions or updates.
Advisory
The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.
