...STRONG WINTER STORM TO IMPACT REGION THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING...

.A POWERFUL INTENSIFYING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK FROM THE PLAINS INTO SOUTHEAST IOWA THEN TO EASTERN WISCONSIN THURSDAY EVENING. COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL CHANGE ALL PRECIPITATION TO SNOW DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS ACCOMPANIED BY VERY STRONG WINDS ON THE BACK SIDE OF LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM. THIS WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF NEW SNOW AND VERY LOW VISIBILITIES AT TIMES IMPACTING TRAVEL.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW THURSDAY AFTERNOON...WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 4 INCHES.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH. STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* VISIBILITIES...STRONG WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE. WHITEOUT CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN RURAL AREAS.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY AND SNOW COVERED ROADS.
