NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male juvenile and the injury of another male juvenile on Friday, February 21, 2014, at approximately 9:00pm. The incident occurred on the 900 block of Fraser Avenue in East Los Angeles.
Detectives learned Deputy Sheriff’s from East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station responded to the location after receiving a call of a gunshot victim. When the deputies arrived, they discovered two male-juveniles with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals where one victim was pronounced dead and the second was in stable condition.
The three juveniles (approximately 16-18 years-old) were standing outside of a residence when a sports utility-type vehicle (SUV) pulled up near the location. A suspect exited the passenger side of the vehicle and approached the young men, on foot, with a firearm, and opened fire. Two of the juveniles were struck by gunfire, the third was uninjured. The suspect returned to the SUV and the vehicle sped away westbound through an adjacent alley and out of view.
Preliminary information indicated the incident may be gang-related.
