PRESS RELEASE: Tip Leads to Heroin Arrest in Warsaw
February 25, 2014
On, Monday, February 24, 2014, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Warsaw Police made a traffic stop on a Pontiac Grand Prix in the 300 block of South Detroit Street, after receiving an anonymous tip that the vehicle occupants were transporting Heroin to sell in both Kosciusko County and Wabash County.
A police canine alerted to the presence of illegal drugs and eighteen (18) individual bags of Heroin, weighing approximately eight 8 grams total, were recovered from Meagan A. Martens’ body.
Narcotics officers took Meagan Martens, 24 years old, of Wabash, into custody and booked her into the Kosciusko County Jail on a class B felony charge of dealing in a schedule I controlled substance (Heroin), and possession of a schedule I controlled substance. She was being held with no bond.
Martens’ boyfriend, Douglas B. Jordan, 26 years old, also of Wabash, was booked for dealing in a schedule I controlled substance (Heroin), a class B felony, and held with no bond.
Narcotics officers indicate that Martens and Jordan were significant suppliers of Heroin in the Kosciusko and Wabash County areas.
Warsaw Police and Warsaw Narcotics Officers were assisted in their investigation by the Wabash County Drug Task Force, and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Warsaw Police continue to diligently work to reduce the influence of illegal drug activity in our community. Any drug tips can be called into the Warsaw Police Department at 574-372-9540.
