Franklin, TN – Franklin Police are investigating the report of a man who approached two young girls in the Fieldstone Farms subdivision and offered them a ride.
The girls’ parents report that the incident happened yesterday morning while their two 9-year-olds were riding their bikes to Hunters Bend Elementary for school. The girls report being approached by a man in a green or gold cube-shaped vehicle with dark black bumpers and side mirrors. When the man approached them at the intersection of Lexington Parkway and Essex Park Circle, he rolled down his car window and asked the girls if they were going to school. The stranger then asked if they knew their way, and offered them a ride. As the man began to pull away, the girls went the opposite direction.
Police are now seeking information about the vehicle, and man driving it. He was described as a white male, 40-50 years old, with a bald head, a 2” long grey goatee, and has a mole on his face. The man was wearing a grey t-shirt and smoking a cigarette.
Though the man’s intentions are currently unclear, Franklin Police Chief David Rahinsky has ordered extra patrols in and around Franklin schools during peak times that children are traveling to and from school. Police are alerting other communities in the Franklin area so that they, too, can be on the lookout for this subject and vehicle.
