A local woman was arrested Wednesday after allegedly fighting with a Garland County sheriff’s deputy responding to a criminal mischief complaint.
Shea Kathleen Conaway, 23, of 108 Gunsmoke Lane, was charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, punishable by up to one year in jail, and cited for unlawful use of a vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Conaway, who also had a warrant for failure to appear, remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $1,000 bond and is set to appear March 11 in Garland County District Court.
According to reports, shortly before 3 p.m., GCSD Deputy Toby Edwards was dispatched to an accident with damages at 688 Elk Horn Loop, and while talking with the female complainant, 25, he was approached by Conaway’s mother, who told him her daughter had caused the damage.
She noted she had discovered her pickup, which was involved in the accident, had been damaged and that she had texts from Conaway stating she had taken the pickup to get gas.
The mother told Edwards her daughter was home and she thought she had a warrant for her arrest. She gave the deputy permission to enter the home to make contact with Conaway and warned him she “would more than likely run and fight” if she knew an officer was coming to see her.
Edwards confirmed there was a failure to appear warrant for Conaway and that her driver’s license was suspended.
While attempting to take her into custody, Conaway allegedly became combative and resisted arrest, requiring Edwards to use minimal force to gain control and get her into custody.
Conaway’s stepfather, 49, who also lives there, filed a complaint indicating Conaway did not have permission to use the pickup, resulting in the additional citations.
