FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sewickley Township Issues Voluntary Travel Advisory
Potential Snowfall May Create Unsafe Roadway Conditions
Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania – March 1, 2014 – Sewickley Township Officials are requesting drivers within the Township to follow our Voluntary Travel Restriction starting at 12:00 am midnight tonight until 1:00 pm Monday, March 3rd. This coincides with the Winter Storm Warning that has been issued by the National Weather Service. During these hours, Sewickley Township requests all persons to limit driving only for essential purposes and to delay any non-emergency travel until roadway conditions improve. Those who must drive during this Winter Storm Warning are also cautioned to drive slower than the posted speed limit, as rapidly changing conditions may create hazardous driving conditions.
This request has been issued because the Township has been forced to go into salt-conservation mode for this storm due to high demand of road treatment materials. Less traffic on the roadways will expedite snow removal and facilitate emergency response times. Sewickley Township Emergency Management will keep residents informed via their Facebook Page and Nixle. As always, please check on the welfare of your neighbors, the elderly, and special needs residents.
Township Officials understand the frustration that the conditions of this winter have caused.
For the benefit of public safety, these Voluntary Travel Restrictions are necessary.
