Special response team called into action last night

At approximately 9:41PM Saturday night Deputies responded to Dixon Marks Rd in regards to a domestic situation. Once on the scene deputies quickly realized the need for more resources. According to a witness fifty five year old Jimmy Ray Young of Pulaski had been upset and became enraged with a female companion. During the altercation Young allegedly fired a rifle at least three times, broke a cell phone and physically abused a woman. Young had made remarks of harming himself and or police if they came to the house. Deputies tried to make contact with young once on the scene to no avail. Sergeant Titus Gilbert contacted Chief Deputy Tommy Chapman and advised him of the situation. Chapman immediately activated the Sheriff's Departments Special Response Team, responded to the scene and set up a command post. Continued efforts to get Young to communicate with officers were gone unanswered. SRT members used special weapons and tactics and eventually located Young on the property and took him into custody and transported him to the Giles County Jail at approximately 3:48 AM. Young remains in the jail with charges of domestic assault, domestic vandalism, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Bond was set at $3,000. Deputies recovered two large caliber rifles and a sawed off shotgun from the scene. Other charges may be forthcoming.
