Flood Preparedness
Believe it or not the snow will soon be melting and with the record-level cold and snowfall amounts this past winter Hamburg Township residents should expect and start preparing for significant flooding this spring. The National Weather Service Forecast Office is stating that there is a near certainty of flooding this spring in the Huron River basin/Hamburg Township area with a better than 50% chance that this flooding will be major.
The Hamburg Township Police Department, along with the Hamburg Township Fire Department and local officials, have been working closely with each other and other outside local, state and federal agencies preparing a response action plan for any flooding. We ask that residents also please make flood preparation plans for your home and family especially identifying and making arrangements for shelter/lodging in the event that you need to evacuate your home.
