Cigarette Bandits captured and charged:
As many of you may remember, last year around this time the Nash County Sheriff’s Office started to experience Commercial Break Ins where numerous cartons of cigarettes were being stolen. The Break Ins started around March and continued on throughout the year. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office had a total of (12) commercial Break Ins, however the suspect(s) were believed to be responsible for numerous other break ins in neighboring Counties, some as far as Beaufort County to Wake County.
During this year long investigation there have been many man hours and numerous different law enforcement agencies contacted and involved. The arrest of Dalian Keith Green by Raleigh Police Department on February the 9th led us to look into his past, and it was determined that he and three other co-defendants had been arrested for a great deal of break ins including breaking into North Carolina and Virginia Highway Patrol district offices in 2003, where Green served time in Federal prison for these Break ins. Through investigations and evidence, we were able to determine that Green was our suspect.
Green was taken into custody by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office along with Alvin Michael Hamlin, both are being held under a $250,000.00 secured bond. It is expected that more charges from other counties will be forthcoming in the future.

Todd Wells, Investigations Division Commander.

Both suspects were charged with 12 counts of Breaking and entering, Larceny after Break In, and Injury to Real Property.
