An allegedly intoxicated local man was arrested following a disturbance Tuesday night in Royal.
Benny Wayne Hensley, 50, who lists an address of 229 Hunter Drive, was taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m. in the 100 block of Checota Drive, located in an area off Old Bear Road, and charged with misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, each punishable by up to 30 days in jail.
He was later released on citations and is set to appear March 25 in Garland County District Court.
According to reports, GCSD Deputies Charles Delahunt and Richard Huffman were dispatched to Checota Drive to a disturbance and upon arrival allegedly found Hensley fighting in the street and being “very disorderly.”
They noted he had a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath and person, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. When questioned, he reportedly admitted to drinking four beers.
