Driver Arrested for 3rd DUI
Franklin Police Urge Motorists to Drive Responsibly This St. Patrick’s Day Weekend
Franklin, TN – This morning, just after 2:00am, officers observed a vehicle traveling in the construction zone on I-65 that was swerving across the roadway, nearly striking construction barrels on more than one occasion. Officers stopped the vehicle and determined the driver, Robert Diaz, to be under the influence of alcohol. During the investigation, officers also discovered that due to his prior DUI convictions, Diaz was court-ordered to have an ignition interlock device on his vehicle; no such device was found.

Diaz remains in the Williamson County Jail on a $27,000 bond, charged with DUI -3rd, Failure to Comply with Ignition Interlock Device Law, Violation of the Implied Consent Law, Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel, Open Container, and Driving on a Revoked License. He is due in court on 03/27/2014 at 1:00pm.
If you’re going to drink this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, don’t drive. Franklin Police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, and urge motorists who see someone they believe may be driving impaired to report them.
