On 03/15/2014 just before 4:30 pm, Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a rural Steuben Township residence in the 3400 block of South Meridian Road for a 911 call reporting a day time burglary to that residence. The residents had left the home at about 8:30 am that morning and upon returning, they discovered that the house had been entered and ransacked. When Sheriff’s deputies arrived, evidence was located indicating that the incident may have just recently occurred and the suspects could still possibly be in the area on foot. Sheriff’s detectives were then called to the scene to assist in the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, 3 male juvenile offenders ages 10, 12, and 13 years old were identified and apprehended in connection with the alleged residential burglary. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation were the Angola Police, the Hamilton Police, the Indiana State Police, the Law Enforcement Division of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Steuben County Probation Department.
