Campbell Police are investigating a murder that occurred last night at John D. Morgan Park
On March 16, 2014 at approximately 8:26 pm, we received a call from a citizen reporting an injured adult male in the area of John D. Morgan Park. Responding officers contacted the injured male, later identified as Todd Tharp, a 24 year old transient, who had injuries consistent with being involved in a serious physical altercation. While conducting the investigation, we were notified by staff at Valley Medical Center that a 16 year old male juvenile (San Jose resident) had just been taken to the emergency room and was suffering from a stab wound. He was rushed into surgery, but was pronounced dead at 2:55 am on March 17, 2014.
Through interviews and follow-up investigation, we determined that (Suspect) Todd Tharp was responsible for the stab wound to the Victim. As a result of the physical altercation, he sustained injuries that required medical attention at VMC. Following his treatment by medical staff, he was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for Murder.
