Indiana State Police Sergeant Recognized for 30 Years of Service
LaPorte County - Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter has recognized Sergeant Nora Werner for 30 years of service with the state police. Sergeant Werner currently serves out of the Toll Road Post located in Bristol.
Born and raised in Michigan City, Werner holds a B.S. degree from Purdue University North Central and an A.S. degree in social work from Calumet College.
Werner began her law enforcement career with the state police after entering the recruit academy in 1983. After appointment to trooper, Werner was assigned to the Toll Road Post where she has spent 29 of her 30 years working.
During her tenure Werner was promoted to the rank of corporal where she spent two years before being promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1988.
Throughout her career with the state police Werner has been involved with training new troopers at the district level for 28 years. Sergeant Werner has been the Toll Road Post Field Training Officer Coordinator (FTOC) for the last 25 years. Werner has also served on the Indiana State Police Tactical Intervention Platoon.
Werner currently supervises Toll Road District troopers who are assigned to work Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, and LaGrange Counties.
Sergeant Werner resides in LaPorte County and has two grown sons.
