Armed Robbery Arrest
On March 26, 2014, officers responded to the Target store located at 3343 Corridor Market Place, Laurel, for report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an employee of Target who advised they had detained a suspect they caught attempting to shoplift. Officers (Cpl. Kelly Harding) made contact with the suspect and immediately recognized the shoes he was wearing as matching the description of ones that were worn by a suspect during the robbery of the BP gas station on March 22, 2014. The suspect was subsequently arrested and transported to Western District to be processed and charged with the shoplifting.
At Western District, District Detectives (Det. Marc Aguiar) were notified of the possible match of the shoes worn by the shoplifting suspect to the ones worn by the suspect in the robbery. Detectives then compared surveillance video they had obtained during their investigation of the robbery, to the suspect from the shoplifting, including the shoes. It was then determined that the suspect’s shoes and physical description were identical to the ones worn during the robbery.
Detectives then applied for and received a search and seizure warrant signed by the Honorable Judge North, of the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County. Upon execution of the warrant at the suspect’s residence, detectives located items that positively linked him to the robbery. Items recovered included a black pellet hand gun and clothing the suspect wore during the robbery.
The suspect was then charged with the armed robbery of the BP gas station.
