Advisory

Columbia Township Police Department investigates a report of a possible MIP party on Brooklyn Road.

On Sunday Morning, March 30th, at approximately 12:44 A.M., Officer Rick Rodden, from the Columbia Township Police Department, responded to a report of a possible MIP party at an address in the 9200 block of Brooklyn Road.

On arrival a large number of youth were located inside and outside the residence. Upon seeing the police, those outside ran back into the house, and refused to open the door. The homeowner (mother of the youth hosting the party) was contacted by phone, and although she was out of town, she contacted her daughter, and directed her to unlock the door and allow the police entry.

In total, there were approximately 24 subjects at the residence, under the age of 21. Fifteen were eventually determined to have been consuming alcohol, and they were cited for “Minor in Possession of Alcohol”. Nine of those present had NOT consumed any alcohol (and were not charged with any crime). The 18 year-old daughter of the homeowner was additionally charged with “Furnishing Alcohol to Minors”.

The blood-alcohol levels on the 15 subjects ranged from .011% to as high as .086%. The home addresses for those charged with MIP included Clarklake, Brooklyn, Farmington Hills, Detroit, Tecumseh, Jackson, Jerome, and Southfield.

Assistance was rendered by Deputy Easter of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Trooper Roberts of the Michigan State Police, and Officer Hankis of the Napoleon Township Police Department.
