Sheriff Sanders warns beware of a phone scam making its rounds. The caller claims to be from Publishers Clearing House and calling from (867) 428-5228. The caller claims that you had just won 3.8 million dollars in prizes and all that you have to do is money-gram $499.99 to them along with you're banking information. The caller adds that they would personally deposit the 3.8 million in your account by noon the following day.
If you should receive a call similar to this tell the caller that you don't give out personal information over the phone and that you will contact the company directly. Make it a point to never give personal information, such as bank account or social security numbers, unless you have initiated the call and you know that you reached the right agency.
