Riley Fire District receives improved fire protection rating.
Property owners in Riley Fire District may benefit from an improved fire protection insurance rating starting July 1st. In November of 2013 Riley Fire Department underwent a re-inspection by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) who grade community’s fire protection abilities. The grading is largely focused on the fire department operation but also includes the 911 center and water supply infrastructure provided by Indiana American Water Company. This rating can be utilized by insurance carriers to determine homeowners and commercial property insurance premiums. Riley Fire District improved its classification for the entire community. Many communities have two different fire protection ratings within the same area as properties near fire hydrants receive a better rating. By Riley Fire Department demonstrating the ability to provide adequate water supply to the rural areas without those fire hydrants our residents will receive the same benefit throughout the entire community, which we are most proud of.
This improvement to a Class 5 rating is a reflection of the dedicated efforts of both our career and volunteer firefighters and the fire protection district board of trustees who continuously strive to provide the best possible service to the community. Property owners in the fire district may contact their respective insurance companies with questions about this improved rating and their respective insurance premiums.
Any questions about this new rating can be directed to fire Chief Jeff Fox at 812-894-3610 x 13.
