Burglary in the village of Cement City being investigatied by the Columbia Township Police Department. .
On Saturday morning, April 5, 2014, at approximately 4:00 A.M., Officer Rick Rodden, from the Columbia Township Police Department, responded to a report of a broken window at the Village Market in Cement City.The broken window was reported by a passerby.
On arrival, Officer Rodden determined that the business had in fact been burglarized. The suspect or suspects had stolen a large amount of cigarettes, as well as alcohol. Officer Rodden requested a K-9, and the Michigan State Police dog and Trooper from Jackson County responded and tracked the suspect for a short distance to Potter St., in the Village, where it is believed the suspect or suspects got into a vehicle.
Evidence was processed at the scene, and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Columbia Township Police Department at 517592-3122.
