Details: On April 7, 2014 at approximately 9:35am, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Dept. responded to a report of an auto accident that took place on Cherry Hill Dr. located off Dutchess Tpk. The initial report was that the vehicle operators were in an altercation. Upon further investigation by responding patrol officers and detectives, it was determined that a domestic incident occurred between two males and a female.
The defendant, later identified as John J. Williams, was operating his vehicle when he came upon the female victim. She was operating her vehicle which was occupied by an adult male and two children. Williams cut off the female victim's vehicle causing it to stop. An altercation took place between Williams and the male passenger in the female victim's vehicle. After the altercation, Williams returned to his vehicle and intentionally drove it towards the female victim striking the victim and her vehicle. Williams' vehicle ended up in a ditch. Williams was taken into custody at the scene.
The female victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital by the Arlington Fire Dept. where she was admitted. She suffered a broken leg after being struck by Williams' vehicle.
