Greetings Detroit 300 Family:
We are encouraging all of the Detroit 300 Family to Fellowship with Religious leaders from across metro Detroit, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and the family of Steve Utash for a prayer service Thursday night at 7 p.m. Thursday April 10, 2014. Please wear your Orange to show our Support.
The prayer service, 'A Night of Healing', will be held at the "Historic Little Rock Baptist Church" located at 9000 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
Steve Utash was beaten by an angry crowd after he stopped to help a child he accidentally hit on April 2.
“A multiracial coalition of suburban and urban pastors is coming together to pray for peace and healing for Mr. Utash and the entire Metro Detroit community,” said Reverend Jim Holley, Ph.D. “We need to send a crystal clear statement to the world that the violent actions of a few individuals will not cast a cloud of negativity over our city. We are inviting everyone to participate to show support that this is a region of hope, peace and renewal.”
Catholic, Jewish, Protestant and Baptist religious leaders will urge the community to maintain peace and calm.
The retired nurse who stepped in to help Steve Utash after the beating will also participate in the prayer service.
