Allegheny County Health Dept. warning the public of bogus “inspectors”

Health Department Warns Public About Bogus Inspectors

Two Impostors Recently Tried to Gain Entry to Clairton Home PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department is warning the public to beware of bogus “inspectors” claiming to represent the Health Department in an effort to gain entry to their homes.
Two men falsely identifying themselves as Health Department inspectors recently tried to enter a rental unit in the Century Townhomes housing complex in Clairton.
“These men were impostors and fortunately turned away by the resident, who doubted their purported affiliation with the Health Department. Our inspectors always carry an official photo ID which must be presented at the time of an inspection,” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.
When there are any doubts about an inspector’s credentials, the public is advised to call the Health Department at 412-687-ACHD to verify his or her identity before letting them gain entry and should immediately notify their local police if the “inspector” turns out to be an impostor.
