Details: On March 28, 2014, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department arrested two suspects on robbery charges relating to an incident that occurred on January 8, 2014 at the Stewarts Shop located at 6 Manchester Circle.
On January 8, 2014 at approx. 9:00pm a suspect entered the Stewarts Shop, went up to a cashier at the register and demanded money while displaying a handgun. The suspect proceeded to hit the cashier in the face with a handgun. The suspect then left the store on foot with cash and cigarettes.
A lengthy investigation led by the Town of Poughkeepsie Detective Division resulted in the arrest of these two suspects. The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the New York State Police, Town of Hyde Park Police Department and Town of Marlboro Police Department.
Additional suspect arrests and charges are expected and the investigation is continuing regarding similar armed robberies during that time period.
