On 04/15/2014 just before 3:30 pm, wanted registered sex offender 26 year old Corey Alan Witsman was located and apprehended by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshals Service. Witsman was taken into custody at a rural Fremont residence near Barton Lake in northern Steuben County without incident. Witsman was booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of probation violation and two counts of class D felony failure to register as a sex or violent offender. Witsman is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all those citizens who provided tips and information in an effort to locate and apprehend Witsman.
