On 4-25-14 Navarro and Moreno entered Sam’s Club in Fountain Valley and stole the victim’s car keys from her shopping cart. The victim noticed her keys were missing and entered the parking lot where she saw Navarro sitting in her 2012 Jeep Patriot. Navarro sped away at which time the victim called the police. FVPD officers spotted the stolen vehicle approximately one mile away and subsequently took Navarro (29 years of age) from Santa Ana into custody for vehicle theft. Officers reviewed store surveillance footage and observed Moreno fleeing the scene in a 2005 Honda CRV. This vehicle had been reported stolen out of Anaheim the day prior. Moreno was identified from the surveillance footage and from his drivers license which was in Navarro’s possession at the time of her arrest. Navarro was booked at Orange County Jail and was later released after posting bail.
On 4-29-14 Navarro and a male entered the front lobby of the Fountain Valley Police Department to retrieve Navarro’s personal property. The male was identified as Moreno (33 years of age) from Garden Grove and was taken into custody without incident. Moreno had a Honda key in his pocket and the stolen CRV was located behind the Police Department near the library. Paperwork with Moreno’s name was found inside the stolen vehicle. Moreno was booked at Orange County Jail and bail was set at $100,000.
