Windsor Heights Police saves 40+ lives with Donate with The Heights.
(Windsor Heights, IA) - The Windsor Heights Police Department together with LifeServe Blood Center hosted an all-day blood drive on April 30th, at the Windsor Heights Community and Events Center.
LifeServe Blood Center set up their equipment and the donors began to arrive. At the end of the day 15 units of blood were collected from 13 donors, including 4 first timers!
Officer Amanda Woods, the Traffic & Community Safety officer, says, “We wanted to host a local event that would help the public. When we heard earlier this year that the blood supply was critically low, we knew we needed to do something. Police and Emergency personnel are often at the front lines in positions to need blood donations; we wanted to be able to give something back.”
As one of the 15th largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 100 hospitals across the Midwest. Every two seconds, someone, somewhere needs blood. Just one blood donation can impact the lives of up to three different hospital patients.
