The Department of Homeland Security Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) Community Engagement Section would like to share with you a press release issued by the Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration (TIGTA) warning taxpayers to beware of phone calls from individuals claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in an effort to defraud them. We have heard of this issue mentioned at quite a few of our Community Engagement Roundtables across the country. We are very concerned about this phone scam, which TITGA states is the “largest ever” of its kind.
