Note:

We are enjoying marked success in crime reduction for the entire West Los Angeles Area. Here is an excerpt from a recent crime briefing from our dedicated and hardworking Crime Analysis Detail. They reported:

ROBBERY: There were no reported 211s (robberies) between 4/28/14 and 5/01/14. (Four days)

Also, there were no reported 211s (robberies) between 5/04/14 and 5/08/14. (Five days)

ADW: There were no reported ADWs (assaults with deadly weapons) between 4/25/14 and 5/08/14. (15 days)

I wanted the community to share in the crime reduction successes and to continue to buckle down partnering with police and each other to ensure that it continues in this direction. Of course, if you or someone close to you has recently been the victim of a crime it certainly doesn’t feel like a time to pat ourselves on the back. But a great example of how good can come from bad can be seen from the recent gathering of neighbors at a new ‘Neighborhood Watch’ group that came together on Saltair Avenue recently. The meeting was hosted by a concerned neighbor following a disturbing burglary of one of their neighbors. The victim, who was home at the time, shared with all of us her frightening story and I can tell you that everyone sat up a little straighter because of it. The opportunity to share and to get to know your neighbors beyond a quick hi and bye goes a long way towards keeping our community safe. Many thanks go out to all of those nice folks that made the effort and showed up. And a special thank you to the gracious host and her family that took the initiative and made it happen. Who knows, because of that meeting and the crucial networking of neighbors, lives and property may very well be safer in the future. Many, many thanks for making that happen!

All the best,
