Road Closures for Amgen Bike Race

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, the elite professional cyclists in the internationally acclaimed Amgen Tour of California will race from Santa Clarita, through the Angeles National Forest, through the city of La Canada Flintridge and into Pasadena.

The Amgen Tour of California 2014 is a Tour de France-style cycling road race created and presented by AEG that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course that traverses hundreds of miles of California’s iconic highways, byways and coastlines each spring. The teams chosen to participate have included Olympic medalists, Tour de France contenders and World Champions. More information is available at www.amgentourofcalifornia.com.

The route will travel through several miles on the picturesque Angeles Crest Highway and Upper Big Tujunga Road, in the Angeles National Forest. Passing the Mount Wilson Observatory, the riders will quickly begin a long, steep, and very technical descent into the town of La Canada Flintridge.

Roads that will be closed for the race are in the Crescenta Valley Area are:

Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2) north of La Canada Flintridge to Upper Big Tujunga Road.

In La Canada Flintridge:

Green Lane, Princesses Anne Road, Commonwealth Ave, Foothill Blvd, and Berkshire Ave will be the streets effected by this race.

The time for these closures are expected to be between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Expect delays and be prepared to change your routes.

After the riders leaves the city of La Canada Flintridge, the riders will pass by the Rose Bowl and across the iconic Colorado Street Bridge. After some quick turns in Old Town Pasadena, the leaders will see City Hall, the finish line, and 3-laps to go. The three mile circuit will follow many well known streets in Pasadena, including the main route of the famous Rose Parade...Colorado Blvd.
