There are 4 main scams that investigators have been seeing. The four of them are:

I.R.S,
Georgia Power,
Publisher Clearing House
and the Court system scams.

An individual posing as a member of the IRS or Court system scam people by threatening them that a warrant will be issued for their arrest, if money is not placed on a “Green Dot” card immediately. Once the money is placed on the “Green Dot” card, they request that the “CALLER” be given the 16 digit number off the front of the card, once this happens the money is gone forever. There is no way of getting these funds back to the victims.

An individual posing as a member of Georgia Power is contacting local business during busy hours of the day, stating they had not received payment for the power bill. They then request the business to place money on a “Green Dot” card and call them back and ask for the 16 digit number on the card and again once this happens the money is gone forever.

An individual posing a member from Publisher Clearing house is calling stating the victim has won several millions of dollars, but in order for them to collect the winnings the victim must load funds on a “Green Dot” card first to pay the taxes.

At this point you can follow how things work, none of these places are going to call you over the phone and none of these places are going to ask you to load funds on a “GREEN DOT” card for payment.
