POLICE REQUEST NEED ASSISTANCE TO IDENTIFY BURGLARY SUSPECT
Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department are asking for help identifying a burglary suspect. On May 16, 2014 at approximately 11:00 A.M. officers were called to the 4300 block of George Washington Highway, the site of the old Cradock High School, to investigate a burglary at the location. Upon arrival, they met with a concerned citizen who told them that a subject was taking metal and copper piping from the location, loading it into a pick up truck. The citizen was able to get a photograph of the suspect using his cellular telephone.
Upon inspection of the building by detectives, it was found that stainless steel sinks, copper piping, copper wiring and other metals appeared to have been staged at the exit door to be removed from the building. Detectives confirmed that no one had permission to be inside the premises or to remove anything from its structure.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his forties, approximately 5’11” tall and weighing approximately 280 pounds. The suspect has brown eyes and black hair. He also had a beard and mustache. The suspect was last seen wearing a black and red baseball cap and black shirt. The suspect was last seen leaving in a black Chevrolet Pickup truck.
Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect pictured is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. You do not have to give your name or testify in court. If your tip leads to an arrest you can be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
