Maricopa Fire Welcomes New Assistant Chief

The Maricopa Fire Department added another 20+ years of experience and expertise when it hired newly donned Assistant Fire Chief of Community Services John Storm on April 14th 2014. Now with more than a century’s worth of fire service experience leading the department Maricopa Fire is poised to take its service delivery to the next level.

Assistant Chief John Storm comes to the Maricopa Fire Department from the Wilmette Fire Department, located just outside the Chicago metro area. During his nearly 24 years with Wilmette Fire Chief Storm held a number of different positions including; firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, and shift commander. He also served as program manager for department accreditation, fitness, clothing, medical physicals and emergency medical services. With industry certifications including; fire officer I & II, fire instructor I & II, driving instructor, hazardous materials and chief officer Chief Storm will bring a unique set of skills and knowledge to the city of Maricopa. Chief Storm holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Management from Benedictine University as well as a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Northwestern University.

From a leadership perspective, Chief Storm’s philosophy is that the Maricopa Fire Department is a single unit with everyone possessing a specific role within our organization. In order to achieve success we all function with one mission/vision in mind and we all perform our specific functions/roles to the best of our abilities. With a core belief that we in the Maricopa Fire Department family support each other always, he also believes in treating everyone (co-workers and the public) with equal respect, as well as conducting ourselves
respectfully with dignity and integrity at all times and in all situations.

Chief Storm has 4 adult children Patrick, Andrew, Eric, and Michelle. All 3 of his sons are currently active duty airman in the United States Air Force and his daughter is a sophomore at the University of Arizona. Chief Storm enjoys traveling, golfing, fishing, and fitness events.
