Fountain Valley Police Department Targets Impaired Drivers with Checkpoint
In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved traffic collisions, the Fountain Valley Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, May 16th from 9pm until 3am. The checkpoint was on Brookhurst Street at the intersection of Talbert Avenue, in the City of Fountain Valley.
A total of 1062 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint and officers were able to contact 914 of the drivers. 1 driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 1 driver was also arrested for a misdemeanor warrant. 6 drivers were issued citations for being an unlicensed and/or suspended driver. 2 vehicles were impounded.
Funding for this operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
