Several Meth Labs discovered and arrest made
Giles County Sheriff's Investigators Michael Thomason and Scott Nations have been very busy over the last few weeks. They have located and processed several meth labs. Yesterday, 5/28/2014 they were at an unoccupied piece of property in Minor Hill. Investigators located 19 - twenty ounce meth cook bottles, 1 - two liter cook bottle, 4 - twenty ounce meth generators 7 - bags of meth trash inside a water well about twelve feet deep. Assisting in the recovery were Giles County Office of Emergency Management, Giles County Fire and Rescue, Minor Hill Police Department, and Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation and Tennessee Emergency Management Agency were notified because it was was a potential threat to a water supply. Late the same date a search warrant for methamphetamine was conducted at 13098 Minor Hill Hwy in front of the Minor Hill School. Officers charged Thirty Three year old Walter Roy Chavez with initiation of methamphetamine manufacture within 1000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1000 feet of a school and remains in the Giles County Jail with bond set at $252,000. These are labs are on the heels of at least one more in the Minor Hill area a week ago and another arrest last week for similar charges.
