Missing state prison inmate in Rapid City
Department of Corrections staff members and local law enforcement are searching for a missing state prison inmate in Rapid City.
Inmate Joseph Janis walked away from the Rapid City Minimum Unit this evening.
Janis is a 27-year-old Native American male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.
Janis is currently serving a 5-year sentence with two years suspended for Possession of a Controlled Substance out of Pennington County.
There are more than 900 minimum security inmates housed across the state, including more than 200 assigned to the Rapid City Minimum Unit.
Instructions:
Anyone who sees Janis or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
